"Why do I need a massage?"
Most people think of a massage as a luxury, not a necessity. Daily aches and pains are usually covered up with aspirin and painkillers. Stop and think for just a minute. If your check engine light comes on, don't you check with a mechanic to see what's going on? If not, shame on you and don't be surprised when you are stuck on the side of the road. Muscular aches and pains are the body's way of communicating to you that something is not right. Imagine how much better we would be able to live by being a better and more capable employee, spouse/partner, father, mother, or any other title we carry.
"Do have to undress completely for my massage?"
No. You undress to your level of comfort. We do not want you to be tense and nervous during your treatment. Keep in mind that when trying to access muscles through layers of clothing, it can limit the results of your session. It can make it more difficult for your therapist to manipulate the muscles. Draping (the use of sheets to keep the body covered) is mandatory in this establishment. The only parts of your body that will be uncovered during your massage will be the area the therapist is working.
"I've had surgery on a specific area of my body and I'm afraid that a massage will hurt (it)."
Our highly trained staff are familiar with post-operative therapy. They will discuss with you what they feel would be the best approach to working with that area. If you adamantly do not want the area worked on, that is entirely your decision as a client. Just inform your therapist and they will respect your decision. We may consult with your physician or other medical professional if the surgery is recent.
"I'm self concious of my height, weight, scars, etc"
Our staff is not here to judge you... and won't!
"I was in a car accident last night and my neck is sore. Can I come in for a massage?"
No! There is a mandatory 72 hour waiting period for any post-accident bodywork which we strictly adhere to. We may require you to get a medical release from your doctor.
For the men - "What if I'm laying on my back with my eyes closed and relaxed... and... ummm... you know?"
Each person responds to touch differently. This is no cause for embarrassment. It doesn't happen often, but sometimes, it does. Our therapists are trained to ignore this response and continue the massage.
"I don't have the money" - We all seem to find the extra money for a night out with friends, that 12th pair of shoes that you "just have to have", $6 gourmet coffee... you get the idea! The money that you are spending for a massage should be looked at as an investment in yourself and your health. It reduces blood pressure, chronic pain levels, helps to flush the body and reduces stress.
"I don't have the time" - There are 168 hours in a week. Shouldn't at least one of these be all about you? Leave the demands of living behind for 60 or 90 minutes to take care of yourself.
"I'm not comfortable being undressed in front of a stranger" - Our therapists leave the room and give you enough time to undress and get on the table covered by the sheet. The only body parts that will be uncovered during your massage is the area that is being worked on. As stated above, undress to your level of comfort and we will work around it.
"Massages aren't for men; they are only for women to pamper themselves" - That statement couldn't be further from the truth! The musculature is the same. Women have pain and are told to go get a massage, while oftentimes men are told to work through it or deal with it. Athletes receive massage at all levels to reduce the risk of injury and to help in the recovery process.
